Twister Reboot is happening because Twister 2 isn’t
Even though the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Bill Paxton wouldn’t be there to participate, people are still looking towards Twister 2. But now, it seems that there might be some good news. Since the starting tests with Dorothy probe weren’t viable, there is not possibility of sequel. Universal Pictures has announced a reboot.
As per the news reports, Universal who co-produced 1996 Twister with Warner Bros will now create a new spin-off. The director of Top Gun: Maverick, Joseph Kosinski will direct this new generation movie. The bench of writers is yet to be decided but producer Frank Marshall will help in moving the project ahead with Sara Scott, Universal’s Senior VP of development.
Although this wasn’t something everybody wanted because the way we saw Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton fall for each other is a hard act to follow. The movie was originally written by Michael Crichton, the Jurassic Park mastermind and the movie became the second highest-grossing film that year. The list was topped by Independence Day. So normally, with a film that did so well will stay a fan favorite and it really implies that the film despite everything has some magic over moviegoers.
After 2010’s Tron: Legacy, Joseph Kosinski’s fame has reached new heights and hiring him as a writer is no less than an ingenious decision. Currently, he is being trusted by Tom Cruise in reviving the same magic after a decade and with Twister, it could be his daunting second act.
It’s not in every case simple to restore a brand like Twister, yet in the event that any individual and studio combo could do it, it’s Joseph Kosinski and Universal. We’ll need to watch out for what comes next straightaway, as there’s no particular release date or creation plan made arrangements for the starting at yet unwritten Twister reboot.
