Michael Rooker of Guardians of the Galaxy creates Father’s Day post for Yondu, see what’s special
In the last decade of filmmaking, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has made a right place in people’s hearts. Every instalment of Phase-3 was an important one. The film was a box office success, including James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Volume-2. In the second sequel, the fan-favourite franchise added unmatched depth to its characters, especially former villains Nebula and Yondu. A later character Walking Dead Fit was played by Michael Rucker. And he has recently posted a Father’s Day post. Although Yondu was previously the antagonist of the film Guardians of the Galaxy, the sequel showed a lot about his backstory and relationship with Peter Quill. While Star-Lord tried to join up with his biological father Ego in Volume-2, the real person responsible for his safety was Yondu.
Yondu eventually sacrifices himself to save Peter, and Michael Rucker honours the moment with Father’s Day Post. The revelation about Yondu and his final death is one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, hindering the audience in the process. Michael Rucker’s post for Father’s Day is made twice as powerful by the character’s ongoing legacy within the shared universe, and how audience members can relate their own father to that heart-wrenching dynamic.
Michael Rooker shared this tear-worthy meme on his personal Instagram, and wrote “Happy Dad’s Day”. Rucker’s tenure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe certainly ended with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Who honoured Yondu with a grand funeral scene after his tragic death. But Rucker has continued to interact with fandom, often quoting his character’s iconic lines in the process. The original Guardians of the Galaxy, James Gun, introduced Yondu as an alien ranger who kidnapped Peter Quill as a child, as he grew up in the universe. But the sequel reveals that he knew that Ego was likely to murder his son, which is why Yondu kept Star-Lord from his father for so long. As a reminder, you can investigate the scene of Yondu’s death from the Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 2 below, which includes the line Michael Rucker quoted on Instagram. Although clearly a blue character, he was not a hot and fuzzy father figure. Despite his death, some Marvel fans are hoping that Yondu will pop up in James Gun’s upcoming Guardian of the Galaxy 3. James Gunn addresses these hopes and theories, ensuring that the character is definitely dead, so any appearance in the threequel would have to be a dream or flashback. But Gunn has not confirmed or denied his plans for Guardian 3.
That scene still slaps after all these years. Before Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, Yondu’s death was possibly the most emotional death scene in the entirety of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But the pair of those films will see the emotional depth of characters like Vision, Black Widow and Iron Man. But Yondu was given a grand venue complete with fireworks.
